Trust and verification

Verified businesses on one side, crew verified by the people they worked for on the other.

How businesses are verified

Owners, management companies and crew agencies are checked before they can see crew names and photos or contact them. Verification comes with Pro and Max, at no extra cost.

  • Owners and management companies list at least one vessel first. Verification is automatic when the business’s own website and email clearly check out: the email address is at the website’s domain, the domain isn’t new, and the site shows the business’s name.
  • A crew agency doesn’t need a website: a verified owner or management company accepting it as a partner counts instead.
  • Otherwise our team checks the details by hand, usually within 1–2 days, so a business with a Gmail address, no website or only a social media page can be verified too.
  • On Free, a business can publish up to 5 jobs, marked Unverified. Crew see a summary only and can tap Interested; the business sees how many, not who.

How crew are verified

Nautilance doesn’t check crew documents, and uses no outside identity services. Crew are verified by the businesses they worked for. It’s free on every plan.

  • A crew member is verified once a verified owner, management company or crew agency confirms they worked there (a reference),
  • or once they’ve completed a booking with one through Nautilance.
  • Profiles show how many verified businesses a crew member worked with and their references, not a score.
  • Crew choose, per certificate, whether businesses can see its copies.

How references work

1

The crew member asks

From their profile, by email, or with a link or QR code to send themselves.

2

The business confirms

The year they worked together, the crew member’s roles, whether they’d work with them again, and a note.

3

It counts

Once the business is verified. A business not on Nautilance yet can sign up from the request.

The business can change or withdraw a reference later, and the crew member can hide any reference from their profile.

Ratings that stay fair

  • Crew and businesses can rate each other after a booking ends (on Pro and Max).
  • Others see only the average, and only from 3 ratings, never the reasons.
  • The rated person sees each rating with its reason, and can ask us to review one they think is unfair.

Private by design

  • Crew identities are protected behind business verification.
  • Businesses reach crew through Nautilance, never by their email or phone number.
  • Documents show only their type and dates. Reference numbers and copies are shown only to a business a crew member is working with, and the crew member sees each look.
  • Personal data is masked after 90 days, and everything is stored in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).

Reporting and safety

  • Anyone can report abusive material from the contact form (Report Abuse), with the exact web address where they saw it or a screenshot.
  • Reported content is kept for our review even if its owner deletes it, and can be taken offline at once while we look into it.
  • Only the accounts responsible are suspended; a suspended account is logged out everywhere until our team reinstates it.
  • Deleted photos and videos leave every link at once, are kept out of sight for 14 days for safety reviews, then deleted for good.
